Note Recorded statement. Jeff Schall sent his regrets and could not attend. His recorded statement plays at the end of the panel.

Summary Jeff Schall says the community plan should guide growth and would not support bending rules for high-density projects. Schall wants new developments to pay for infrastructure and would seek grants to fix the east side water system. Schall says residential taxpayers carry too much and wants less red tape to attract light industrial and commercial businesses.

Our official community plan is our neighborhood roadmap, and we need to stick to it. I will not support bending the rules for high-density projects that ruin our rural charm.

Asked What is the most important topic that needs to be dealt with in Lake Country and how would you go about dealing with it?

The residents of Carr’s Landing deserve a fully independent voice on Council. I believe Carr’s Landing cannot afford a part-time voice at City Hall. I am running to offer 100 per cent representation, 100 per cent of the time.

Jeff Schall

Asked How would you control municipal spending and keep commercial property taxes, business-licensing costs and other municipal fees affordable?

The District needs to focus on expanding the overall tax base rather than raising fees. The most sustainable way to keep taxes low for existing businesses is to bring new business taxpayers into Lake Country.
